american alligator care

He has a lot of animals that aren't being taken care of. I would get it to save him. I have my empty indoor pond I could use. I don't know...........

Report him... people keeping things illegally (and improperly on top of that!) are one of the biggest problems facing the reptile hobby. If people can't be responsible they shouldn't have animals.
Alligators are Class I animals in Tennessee, on the same level as big cats... and if that is at all like the Class I animals in Florida I HIGHLY doubt he has the permit to keep them.

Depending on your priorities and capabilities, you can either choose to take it or report it and have the alligator euthanized. And the pet shop will never have the permits required, which I imagine to be quite plenty, no matter how many times they tell you that they do.

Knowledge should never be held back guys. The biggest problem facing most things is lack of knowledge in that given subject.

When we flippantly report people because something is "wrong", we put fear in their hearts. People do things really wrong when they are too afraid to ask how to do it right. We should teach people the right way to do things.

Teach people as much as possible--that it is illegal without a permit (these permits are not impossible to get, really), how to care for it and then any hands on advice you may have.

Alligators make interesting "pets"--but much care should be taken with them. Not just to protect the animal but to keep others safe as well.

An enclosure that is ENCLOSED should be built. DOUBLE fencing should keep curious kids out. Kids are more important than having a pet alligator. Kids do not respect property boundaries, they're kids, after all!

If you cannot provide the animal with a tip-top enclosure, pond, proper light and diet then it is better off put to sleep. Alligators grow much faster than many people think.

:headbang2Good Luck and Keep the Knowledge Going! :headbang2
