Great pictures, Ruby is a beast. My son would be missing if I lived there he loves large reptiles.. especially one that can maim and kill. As many times as I try to tell him he can't just walk up to some animals (i.e. snakes, aligators, etc) he's is just so fancinated with them. He's weary of a dog when first meeting one but he would walk right up to an aligator I bet.

Is the farm for sale? Just joking but that would be, at least for me a sweet sweet dream to live in there:D

In the pond is a former animal control rescue critter that has grown from 3ft (at her rescue) to her present 9+ ft length. This is Ruby:

Great pics that bamboo forest is very nice.

Nice to see a gator living in peace and quite away from humans.

I didnt think they hibernated knew they could endure short term cold spells by going under deeper water but had no idea they would hibernate in cave .

Would think by looking at the bamboo not to cold there during winter?

Last yr at a turtle farm I saw a pair of Yacare Caimans . Guess about 3 feet and they were all teeth . Lb per lb they looked like they could eat a gator.

I know nothing about them but what a set of teeth on them. Amazing looking .

We had hard frost and a few snow days. Temps dropped to the single digits. Usually not that cold in the winter here in central MS.

Wouldnt have thought a gator could survive MS winter and bamboo is way hardier than I thought .

There is a certain degree of danger in keeping any species of the order Crocidilia (caimans, alligators, crocodiles).

However, if kept responsibly and respectfully then you shouldn't have any problems.

Good luck with the caiman.
