geeze he sure is growing up fast!
thats good that you might be getting the new pup early
get pictures on your new visit!

Well they are back to nursing!! I guess the momma was a little sore and didn't want to nurse or something, either way I want the pup to stay with the mom and siblings as long as possible.
Here's some pics of Sugar, her momma(Emma) and her littermates!

Ok... the lady said that I can pick up the puppy this Friday... she'll be 5 weeks old. Does anyone think that she is too young to take away from the mother, or should it be fine seeing she is already eating on her own?

Ive heard it is best to wait until 8 weeks, but I hear of people getting them as soon as they have been eating on their own for a week so do what you feel comfortable with!

good luck and she sure is a looker!

I think I may pick her up on Sunday. I'll have her feed her when I'm there and then decide.
Thanks again, she is such a cutie and a little sweetheart.

Always let the pup stay with momma for 8 weeks. If I'm not mistaken it's against the law to separate mom and pups before 8 weeks. It's valuable learning time for the puppies.

Edit: I did some research - Where I live it's illegal to sell pups if they are under 8 weeks - in Michigan it said it's illegal for petshops to sell pups under 8 weeks but nothing about the legalities of a breeder doing it.

Yeah I know it is learning time for the pups, they should be learning not to nip too hard.
Thanks for looking into that for me;)

No problem. I just know when our dogs had pups the last 4 weeks was momma disciplining them more. I also noticed they were much easier to house train as they were willing to follow and do as mom did.

We are going to go ahead and pick her up this Friday, they're eating very well on their own. She's weighing in at 11lbs!
Went and visited Sugar yesterday and grabbed some really cute pics!
