You guys are soooo lucky to be able to own any bull terrier breed period. In the city I'm from, they've banned bull terriers all together. It's forcing me to move out of city limits to own a Staffordshire Terrier. Pisses me off. It'll make my excursions to the LFS a multiple hour event!

It is just sad, because it only affects good owners. Only the good owners suffer, either by the loss of their dogs, or by having to hide their dogs and get fined and have the dog killed anyway, or being forced to move and go through hell... The real bad owners don't give a crap, they'll just go out and get another dog, or start ruining the reputation of another breed. This of what's going to happen when there are pit bull pans everywhere, and they start turning to Cane Corsos or something. There are two CCs living a few blocks from me, good dogs, in bad hands...

i mean in genral their are still some kennells out their producing quality bulldogs

I love this thred...and i love you bettagurl for starting it!!!

My PURE bred Blue heeler has a big mouth..and iv had people think she was a bully breed or a mix... WTF,,,she looks nothing like one
Even had an apartment manager accuse me of having a pit bull....had to prov she wasn't to live there.

love bully breeds they are so sweet but not just every one should own one, same goes for most herding breeds. People need to really research a breed before getting one.

NO NO NO ALL wrong ,,,, The American Bully Is a PIT-BULL AKA " American Staffordshire terrier" mixed with american bulldog, or English bulldog for size head and mass.. The Staffordshire terrier is the dog brought to america and bred for size and cure.. so the have the american pit bull >> the pit is where they fought there are lots of pit dogs. 3 breeds in these pics is all ..1. American bully 2. Pit bull{american Staffordshire terrier} 3. Staffordshire terrier. Staff terriers , are smaller and faster most fighters are staffs.. The American pit-bull is a working dog.

I have been into dogs longer than fish.. I am 32 now at 19 ish used to professionally fight dogs( never again its sad) . the real way to the line. as soon a a cure they put them back face to face if cure turns head again its called..loser . The winner all and all and only dog to stay forever is the Akita. will never back down not even from bears. FACT: when they try to release black bears into the wild they use dogs to chase them away. Only the Akita will fight with the bears if the bear turns around , every other dog runs back and forth barking..ALPHA of all alpha is the Akita . Some people say " I dont have a dog, I have an Akita".

Actually, the original American Bully, like Throwin' Knuckles, are American Staff/APBT blood mixed and bred for substance... Any reputable person will give you this info. POCKET Bullies are usually mixed with English Bulldog. Maybe some people who are bad breeders will mix in American Bulldog or something, but that is not an American Bully then, it's a mutt.

No, there is an American Bully, an American Staffordshire Terrier, A Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and an APBT. the only real "pit bull" is an American PIT BULL Terrier..

Actually, many dog breeds will fight with a bear.. it's up to the individual dog, not the breed... And here is a discussion on Akita fighting bulldogs, like you said:

English is not your first language, is it?

The American Bully breed was established in the mid 1990 s with the purpose of creating the ultimate family companion. The American Bully was created through years of selective breeding by combining the desired traits of the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier and the AKC American Staffordshire Terrier.
I do not know how you got this information, because I have witnessed video of Akita VS APBT, and even Caucasian Ovtcharka VS APBT, and every time the APBT made the other dog give up. That is because other fighting breeds, like Akita and Ovt. are not GAME bred, they are not gamedogs, they are fighting dogs, game means they will not stop fighting, even when threatened with death, only the APBT does that. Other dog's self-preservation kicks in and the dog stops. I.E it 'curs out'.

And I think you are trying to explain the Cajun Rules, THESE are the Cajun Rules of dogfighting, when it was legal and in countries where it is legal.

American Bully
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a sod created in the early 1800's for the sport of dog fighting. It was created and designed to be the ultimate gladiator, yet, man's best friend. This breed was designed to be able to out do any other breed in it's physical strength and stamina. These dogs were created to uphold what it's called "gameness". This is the ability to keep going when all else fails. It's a mental state that made this dog the ultimate fighting machine. These dogs were also created to instinctively never to harm a human hand, even in the heat of battle. They were the ideal athletes and competitors, and the most stable and human tolerate breed in existence. Eventually the sport of dog fighting was outlawed and deemed inhumane. The breed was left with out being able to preform the task in which it was created. This left the breed with the only purpose to be man's best friend.

Another breed spawned from this breed with the purpose to be a competitor in conformation shows. This breed adopted the name, The American Staffordshire Terrier. It was created solely from the American Pit Bull Terrier, but with a new purpose. These dog eventually became larger and fuller dogs and had a more mellow temperament.

About 10 years ago some breeders decided they wanted to take the breed in another direction. They bred for the athletic muscular build of the American Pit Bull, but the size and mass of the "Am. Staffs". These dogs were not bred to be as dog aggressive as the Pit, but not as passive as the Am Staff. They were bred for personality, character, energy, drive, unlimited stamina, and that confident stability. They were to have the look of a buff athlete. Through generations of breeding they developed a new look and it adopted the slang name "Bullies". This was the start of a new breed and a new era for "The American Bully". The standard for the bully is a medium height and length. They should have larger blocky shaped heads. Muzzles should be relatively short and blocky. Their chest should be wide and deep with a look of power. Shoulders should be set wide and have a muscular definition. Their rears should be thick and muscular. This breed should represent strength and power from head to tail. When you look at these dogs you should immediately know that it is an "American Bully".
American Staffordshire Terrier.

In any event, it was the cross between the Bulldog and the terrier that resulted in the Staffordshire Terrier, which was originally called the Bull-and-Terrier Dog, Half and Half, and at times Pit Dog or Pit Builterrier. Later, it assumed the name in England of Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

These dogs began to find their way into America as early as 1870, where they became known as Pit Dog, Pit Bull Terrier, later American Bull Terrier, and still later as Yankee Terrier.

In 1936, they were accepted for registration in the AKC Stud Book as Staffordshire Terriers. The name of the breed was revised effective January 1, 1972 to American Staffordshire Terrier. Breeders in this country had developed a type which is heavier in weight than the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England and the name change was to distinguish them as separate breeds.

Once American Staffordshire Terriers started being bred for show, not fighting, they changed in looks, and are now a different breed completely from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and the AMerican Pit Bull Terrier.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier first came into existence in or around the seventeenth century. As bull baiting declined in popularity and dog fighting enjoyed a surge of interest, it became necessary to develop a dog which possessed a longer and more punishing head than the Bulldog and also to combine strength and agility. It is therefore believed that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was derived from the fighting Bulldog of the day with some terrier blood introduced. This cross produced what was known as the Bull and Terrier or Pit Dog. These dogs were renowned for their courage and tenacity and despite their ferocity in the pit were excellent companions and good with children. In fact it was not unknown for an injured dog to be transported home in a pram with the baby! Although dog fighting and other barbaric pastimes of the day were patronised by the aristocracy - Lord Camelford reportedly owned a famous dog called 'Belcher'- fighting dogs were also owned by the poorest of families. The pit dog was a favourite with miners and steelworkers and was prevalent amongst the chainmakers of the " Black Country " where the dogs were not only fought for entertainment but provided a working man with valuable extra income when worked against badgers or as ratters. With the introduction of the Humane Act in 1835, baiting sports and dog fighting became unlawful and a group of men in the Staffordshire area endeavoured to preserve their breed by introducing them to the show world. After much discussion the Standard was written describing the dog's physical attributes and this dog was named the Staffordshire Bull Terrier to differentiate him from the English Bull Terrier. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was officially registered by the Kennel Club in 1935 and the first club show for the breed took place in August 1935 at Cradley Heath in the West Midlands where 60 dogs and *****es were entered . The founder club was named The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club and is affectionately known as 'The Parent Club'. There are now a total of 18 clubs in Great Britain and Northern Ireland ranging from the North of Scotland to the West of England. The breed received championship status in 1938 when CC's were awarded for the first time at the Birmingham National. The first two Champions of the breed were Ch. Gentleman Jim and Ch. Lady Eve. The popularity of the breed has now spread abroad with well established clubs in many countries including Australia, Eire, France, Germany, Holland, Spain and the USA, to name but a few. Over the years the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has become a successful show dog and a serious contender in the Terrier Group, where they frequently have the highest number of entries of all dogs in the Terrier Group and are occasional winners of Best in Show. More importantly the Stafford has become a popular pet retaining the attributes gained from generations of fighting dogs bred for courage, tenacity and most important: total reliability and affinity with people and in particular children

American Pit Bull Terrier
http://www.bulldogbreeds.com/americanpitbullterrier.html
His ancestors were brought to the United States in the mid - 1800's by Boston-Irish immigrants. Originally bred from a variety of bulldogs and terriers, American breeders increased his weight and gave him a more powerful head. A forbearer to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, they were originally bred to be a fighting dog. Bull baiting was banned in England in 1835 and these dogs are no longer being bred to fight. There is some complication in registries of this breed. The AKC considers the American Staffordshire Terrier as separate and distinct from the American Pit Bull Terrier, yet the UKC will register both as American Pit Bull Terriers (APBTs).

those are pit bull forums the akita is the most pure form of dog to a wolf on the planet every one knows that. and probably the oldest form of dog. not to put myself out there but have witnessed mauling of many pits by rotts , presa's and even bermise mountain dogs, as well as other large dogs when its survival to the end of end size matters. I have seen rotts and Japanese tosa's ..you probably never heard of them crush pits whole rib cage and insta kills with one bite. pits do not have the strongest jaws or lock jaw just the ability to defy gravity cause they weight only 40-70 lbs.

betagurl i saw you questioned the other forum about my post and pasted it over there. To inform you of why japan didnt bring an akita to the nationals , cause they are considered a natioanal treasure and protected over in japan. They would never be able to fight a protected dog. They have statues up in japan of akitas. Not sayings its my all time favorite. i like presa canarios personnaly. But without getting banned i have let them go in kitchens no rules and have seen akitas maul pitbulls and shake them like rag dolls. People like pits cause they are tuff little dogs and will bite and protect the home. They are some what dumb and unpredictable and not as trainable as other dogs. neither for fighting or for guarding or home protection. people like them cause they are small.. Police and Military use Malamutes, German Shepherd, rottweilers and Akitas.not pits do to bite size and ability to control people not just other animals. not that we ahve got off topic but you bring a pit i can show you another dog when starved and locked in a room for a month you will see a half eaten pitbull.
