American Cichlid Growout

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So it's been awhile since the decor was moved and changed. JD is all cosy and in charge from the left side. Pictus and Pleco are happy. And the FM is still hating the GT. The GT, wisely, let's the JD be but never stands up to the FM. The store has a beautiful GT around the size of my JD. It without a doubt rules that tank and I'd imagine is a male. Should I return the FM or the GT? Or hope they work it out?

Your gt looks more like a texas to me.
I've been thinking that exact thing. I'm leaning towards GT only bc of the slight orange strip on the dorsal fin. Im not sure if texas have that. Should I start a separate thread?

thats definitely not a green terror.

in my experience, the whole moving the decor around doesn't do much. if a fish is going to be more aggressive than the other fish, no amount of moving things around will stop that.
as already stated, fire mouths are all talk. i would take his aggression as a good thing haha. eventually the jack dempsey and texas cichlid will be much bigger than him. you're gonna want him to keep his little attitude if he going to stand a chance with those guys once they're bigger than him.
if anything, add more plants to cause more breaks in sight.

Haha that's kinda why I picked the bigger FM in the first place. And I guess I have to read up on a Texas Cichlid lol. I've heard only brutal stories about them so far.
