American Cichlid Tank setups

My biggest aggression concern in this tank is the angelfish, believe it or not... the rest are very chill. I have two because my wife likes them, and they are different variants. Singles is the key, IMHO.

Trust me; I get you, lol. I think either alone or in large schools. Anything less than 4 (other than one) is trouble.

Exactly. Same with discus. For such "peaceful" fish, they can be brutal to conspecifics. My first cichlid setup years ago was 4 discus with some corys and cardinals. After a while, I just had a pair of discus, two got murdered. If I ran discus again, I'd have double digits, maybe 12-15. Or just buy a proven pair.

I just have a pair of discus too, four didn't work for me either lol, however they are not dead, they will soon be sold.

I want to run a discus pair setup. I think it would be awesome with a heavily planted tank. I'm trying to convince my wife to let me put it in the den. So far she's not into the idea. I'd probably run a 36" 65 gallon, maybe a 75 if I had space.

Pair em with some neon tetras or livebearers and some corys and you have yourself a fun peaceful tank.

Agreed, it's living art if done tastefully.
