I love these guys but im not sure where to find them. Can they be purchased? I live in Wisconsin and know that they are around but I have never seen one and would not know where to look or how to catch one. Any ideas or help?

Thanks Guys

I'll have this moved to natives for you. I have never seen them for sale. See if you can net juveniles, I doubt they are restricted in anyway in your state.

If you want to ceatch one look in weedy bays, or in pools of creeks, and back waters. One good place I found was in a pool under a small dam in Michigan. For bait, you can use lewars, minnows, wax worms, & my favorite a whole nightcrawler. These baits ork for any sized Dogfish.

thanks guys!

any other input?

What size tank would you guys recommend for this fish? I cant seem to find out much about them. I know they get rather large in the wild but im not sure how big and active they are when tank raised.

i've seen anywhere from 2'-3' adults in captivity and on the end of my fishing rod. i would say a 96"x36" absoulte minimum to keep them. there a native fish to american waters and aren't normally kept in aquaria, so you won't find info on their captive husbandry.

bring a pole to the TN river, we used to catch bowfiin there. aint been fishing there in a while but i bet you still catch them
