Ammonia burn or something else???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks terrible.i dont think ammonia though.clean water and salt and it'll heal

Cooler water? I'd guess around 8 gallons maybe?

I think it would be kinda weird to see this kinda ammonia damage in such a small ray when I've transported so many much larger rays in the past and never had any kind of issues, some even traveling further/longer, sometimes without even having water changes.

I moved some sand. She swam right over to the pile and flopped in it. lol She appears fine from the top. She is supposed to be quite fond of swimming on the sides I guess, maybe it's possible these are from the cooler?

I fashioned up a divider just to be sure the fish don't bother her.

I tried shrimp and she didn't budge, but she couldn't resist the crawlers, so hopefully it's nothing super serious.

2 years old and looks to be 6-7" across.... :)

8 houers is a pretty short trip, especially when you have 8 gallons of water + WC. Its dosent look like ammonia burns, nor would it make any sense for that much ammonia to be created over such a short period of time.

If she is eating then no worries.

Lets see her from the top? :)

Good luck with her. I'm sure she will be fine. I don't think it is ammonia burn either.

Looks like abrasion to me. I have seen similar with my rays that are on sand but no where near as bad. I have one marble that digs and blows all day and her mouth and feet will turn red but the skin has never broken.

Here's some pics of her from the top.....

Hoarder? lol. I'm simply stepping up to care for this lil girl after no one else did. All us Marble geeks need to stick together and help eachother. I know Mike's busy, and I know this girl means the world to him and since I have to provide for my firstborn, I figured his special lil midget is gonna need similar care so why not add her? :D

I can't wait to get all these lil buggers in the same tank. Hopefully, eventually, it will be a lil Marble umpa loompa factory. :naughty:

You should see the rest of the umpas..... :) They could possibly prove you sig wrong. A big tank should be more then enough for these guys.

There's at least 7 here I suspect to be midgets, and 2 that might also be, but too early to tell. All 10 inches or less, the oldest WC pair being in my possesion for going on 5 years. The CBs are 8" @ 3 years, and this one 6" at 2 years. The 2 newer mature unrolled males are 7". The oldest male was recieved unrolled at 7" also, but over the last 4+ years he's managed to put on 2, maybe even 3 inches.....

Anyone in doubt of midgets just needs to come visit..... Seeing is believing.

Now if the friggin things would just breed and make their way to other people tanks then maybe the subject wouldn't be so controversial.

Hard to say they are stunted when you have other rays in the same system that are steadily growing including other marbles

Video when they all get together. Please
I would say send me a couple in a year or so but I would really like some more black blood first. I like variety allot.
