Ammonia Level

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
now is the HOB filter a non bio-wheel b/c if it is a bio-wheel then i dont' see the point in ceramic media

bio wheels have pretty limited bio filtration, the addition of bio media into your hob filter will make it a bit more effective.

a bit more effective is not alot more effective i figure with two twin biowheel setups and a FX5 with the bottom basket loaded with biomax should be considerable bio for my setup if it were a more populated tank i might have to agrre

i don't think anyone was talking about your setup, bio media in the hobs was recommended to the op as another way of keeping the ammonia levels in check

The levels are good to go now, it was solely me not getting the uneaten shrimp out of the tank in a timely fashion. After vaccuming the rock and doing some partial water changes we're good to go. I added more plants and some more "hiding" driftwood and they love it!! I'll update my pics within the next week or so so you folks can take a look. BTW, I have 2 powerheads in the tank that I didn't mention before, they are rated at 300GPH. When I was speaking of filtration, I was speaking of what goes through the filters, not an overall movement of water throughout the tank. Didn't know someone was going to do a Michio Kaku water theory on me there. :-) Thanks again

yeah, i remembered you getting the ammonia thing fixed a ways back, lookin forward to pics tho
