Well,

Bought some pure ammonia from Ace - 10%.

Added four(4) capfuls to the 75Gallon tank.. Waited an hour and tested. Over 8PPM.

WOOPS!

instantly did a 30PWC . and used prime on water. Waited another hour, Ammonia still showing 8PPm.

Did another 30PWC and now going to wait an hour.

I guess I was overly excited with the ammonia eh?

I've done the same thing. Give it some time, change the water a few times and you'll be back on track

WOW! I agree. Wait a little bit and do another WC

You can always put more in, but you gotta change it out. Better to err on the too little side while you're testing. Start with 1 capful.

yah, im planning to keep doing water changes. Should be good to go.

I figure once i keep the ammonia to ~4ppm - tank should cycle fairly quickly, i had some BB built up already.

on the last water change, the last 5 + gallons i added RO/DI water. as my TAP has small traces of ammonia

Hey just for the record too much ammonia can kill bb. I think most people who claim that using ammonia to cycle their tanks doesn't work did it improperly and just added too much. Definitely stick to err on the low side

my trick with the Ace is 1 drop per gallon of tank water the first day, wait 2 days, then add 1 drop per every 3 gallons of water every day from then on. has worked for 3 tanks that i cycled

Ammonia comes in different strengths. Some are strong, others are quite diluted. When we were cycling our 300 gallon tank, we had to add 132 ml of ammonia to get an ammonia reading of 4 ppm.

I suggest that you add two drops of ammonia to a gallon of water and then test the water. Repeat the process until you know how many drops of ammonia it takes to get a reading of 4 ppm. You should be able to then figure out how much ammonia to put in your tank to get a reading of 4 ppm.

If it was my tank, I'd drain the tank and refill the tank. When my tank was cycled, I drained the tank and refilled the tank to get rid of the nitrates.

Ive done ~ total of 60 gallon refresh in the tank? twelve 5 gallon buckets.

Tested ammonia as of now, reading ~4ppm-5ppm per my API test kit.

I will test in the morning to look for any drop, otherwise, I will continue to do PWC and hope for best.

NOTE: also dosing with Seachem stability.
