Ammonia problem

i been geting a reading of 8.0 of Ammonia
i been doing 50% watter changes every other day and i was also told to use

Sounds as if you have an uncycled tank.

To give good advise alot more info is needed.
Tank size?
Number, size and type of fish you have?
Type of filtration?
How long has the tank been set up and running?
What ammonia test are you using?

it is a 10 gallon
hang over fillter i think they are called
2 tri-color sharks one is about 4 inches and other is about 3
im useing aqueon master test kit
its been set up and runing for about a month or so

what type of fish are in there? how long have u kept them in there with 8PPM of ammonia? not many fish could survive that for long. i get worried when my ammonia hits 0.01. nothing bad has happened yet but i get very paranoid when it comes to fish. how much nitrite and nitrate is there?

well we found your problem lol evreything.

1.a ten gallon is to small for all those fish at that size and that will cause ammonia in the tank the only way to get rid of that amonia is get rid of fish.

u just need to take one out and put it in another tank for a while. and keep up the water changes but feed less.

here are the things you can do to help


1. take 1 fish out
2. do an 80% water change immidiatly
3 evrey day do a 50% water change until u see improvements


do u have any other cycled tanks?
