Im still getting ammonia readings after i changed the water about 40% treated with a double dose of prime

How can I get rid of all of it?

Ive done everything possible, but i still cant eliminate it for some reason

6 months...

I just started having this problem this week, and ive been putting in BB after water changes. I just cant seem to get it down...

What size tank, whats the stocking, what filters do you have, and how do you clean your filters. What do you mean you put the BB in after what changes. The BB colonize themselves thats what cycling your tank is all about.

AMMO-CARB in the filter might help temporarily. You need to locate the cause and fix it also. Most likely cause is over stocking and under filtering.

This could help but it depends on the problem. If say he just replaced his filter pads and just threw the old ones away that would mean his tank is cycling again. Putting Ammo-Carb in the filter would just prolong the cycle.

What exactly is the ammonia reading? Also, if you dosed with Prime, it's presence is probably irrelevant anyway.

True. I guess I should not assume. I was thinking he had some kind of biological media already going that would not be removed from the system. Would help to know what kind of filter he is using. With mine I can pretty much add any chemical filter media I want without discarding anything else.

Primes just a bandaid it not going to fix the problem.
