ohh sorry i didnt know what that was. but still that is not a legit cycle

How is it not legit?:screwy:

If it cycles the tank without harming any fish in any way, which I have done many times with stability, then it is legit.

Yeah I gotcha:D. I was just saying that is stability is used right, it can be just as good as any other cycling method.

and by "do nothing at all" i mean, they dont do what they advertise. making it possilble to add fish right away with no spikes of a normal cycle. it will still cycle the tank, but the tank would cycle all the same without it.

Time for Complete cycle

Stability -> 7 days
Without Stability -> 23 days

How is that same?

To OP, what you can do now is just change 20% of the water a day, add 5x of prime and stability.
Arowanas are sensitive to ammonia and don't do well even in small concentrations like what Ayeeepowlow mentioned

Only when ammonia and nitrite are zero and stays zero then it is safe.

wait until the nitirite spikes.. that arowana will really be stressed then! Why didn't you just jump start your tank from your neighbors?? would have been cycled pretty much right away and his arowana would be better off.

Penguin is from my neighbor and its been used for a while. I also had a sponge filter from his tank. I've been following the stability directions since the tank was first started. (about a week ago)

I did a 20% water change today which would make it the 2nd day in a row. I tested the water roughly a couple hours later.

Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - .25

Im assuming the ammonia will go back up tomorrow. So ill do another 20% water change? add ultimate and stability?

Thanks!!

Can you tell us how you are using Stability exactly, without going and reading the bottle.. ? Not trying to be a butt, buuut maybe we can catch something you may be doing wrong.. Really I've only used Stabilty once, when setting up my 125g but never got a spike in any of my readings.. and still to the day, and I started the tank 3/26/11, I do not get any readings of ammonia.. nitrates yeah.. but not ammonia..

i meant its all the same in the sense that you are still going to go through the same spikes (given, maybe not as harsh).....even if the time it takes is drastically shortened. probly still not a situation you necessarily want to risk with an aro. especially since he may not have even hit the nitrite spike yet - and its going on over a week.

First day I put in exactly 4 cap fulls of stability. Then each day till this day ( roughly a week) I put in 2 cap fulls. I only did a water change today and yesterday and I did the WC's before I added stability. I also add ultimate with those two water changes. (I don't know if that canceled out adding stability or not)Again, the temperature has been stable at 82 about.
