I'm in the 9th day of my fishless cycling. From what I have read, the ideal ammonia readings for a fishless cycling would be 5 ppm. In my case, I think I added way more ammonia that is needed to achieve the 5ppm reading. My marine lab test kit only goes up to 7.5ppm ammonia reading which is the dark green color.

When testing the ammonia levels, the color that I am getting is dark blue which is off the range that is indicated in the card.

Can anyone help me regarding what a dark blue ammonia readig amounts to? I did a search on MFK as well as Google but I didn't come up with anything regarding my reading.

My current nitrite reading is 0.2 coiming from 0.05 two days ago. Hopefully I am a third to my cycling but the ammonia readings are still "dark blue."

Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend doing a water change if you're doing fishless cycling. Just skip a day before adding another ammonia dose.

I won't be doing any water change unless ammonia and nitrite levels are zero, by then, a huge water change will happen.

I only added ammonia once and I did it on the first day of the cycling. I'm just curious as to what my ammonia levels are because my nitrite levels are rising but the ammonia levels stay within the same color, which numerical level it is, that's what I want to find out.

By the way, the ammonia level has been in the dark blue reading since the first day of cycling.

Leave everything if theres no fish.

That's how it is!!! I am not doing anything but like the first post on the thread says, I want to know what the color for my ammonia readings equates to, that's it!

Stupid question but are you sure the test kit is not too old. Can give bad readings.
