They delivered my new 550 liter yesterday. I'me planning it has to become a planted tank with discus. I bought an CO2 installation with it, to let the plants grow well and to get the water soft and acidic for the discus. Now i wonder what would be a good level of CO2 for the tank. I have it now on one buble per 2 seconds, which should be about 20 mg/ liter. Is this enough or to much?

One bubble per two seconds would not be 20 ppms, actually it would be far less. There are other things to take into consideration as well, like KH and pH, which will determine a lot. I personally bubble 6-8 bps on my 135.

Well, it depends on what kind of live stock you have, what kind of plants you have, and what type of diffusion you are using for the co2.

There is no livestock in it yet, the plants come tomorow (lfs offered to order everything i needed for the scheme i made in once) but there are not treally difficult plants in it and the diffusion is in a transparant pipe with several levels, the bubbels go upward and a pump forces water downwards through the pipe.

I have the co2 checker now. First it said there was to less. Then raised it to the amount wyldfya uses, but that was to much. It is now on 4 bps. see if that is suficiant

Plants i used are Ceratopteris, ludwigia, hygrophila, rotala, hydrocotyle, liliapsis, echinodoras, several anubias, several crypto's, valisneria, acorus and chladoflor balls

The amount of co2 will be affected by the amount of nutrients you have, and the amount of light.

For instance, if you have 20 watts of T12 lighting on a 37 gallon tank, and only have 12 tetras in the tank, and don't dose ferts at all, you will not need co2 at all. However, if you have 600 watts of HO T5 lighting over a 120 gallon tank, 12 discus and 30 cardinal tetras, and some bottom feeders, plus you dose ferts, it would be good to have higher levels of CO2.

List what you have for lighting (not wpg) and how big the tank is. Also, do you dose any ferts? Finally, what is your livestock list like?
