If you mean how many RBP will comfortably fit in that tank, I'd say 4 or 5 at the most.

yes that what i mean't ok cool. are they the smalest type of piranha that shoal?

if by piranhas that shoal you mean true piranhas (pygocentrus) then I think yes. Theres only 3. RBP's (nattereri), caribe, and piraya. RBP's and caribe stay around the same size (about a foot full grown), and piraya's get 22-24" long.

There are other piranha species that shoal, but aren't pygocentrus piranhas and are therefore not considered true piranhas. Geryi, maculatus, spilo, some pristobrycons and pygopristis denticulata, catoprion menton to name a few of the top of my head.

or go straight to caribes if you can get them.

6 rbp,can start off with a few more

Are you saying you'd keep 6 [or more] 12'' fish in a 4' aquarium?

well what if you put it this way.. will you keep just 4 8-9 inch piranhas in a 120 gal when lots of people have 4 of the same size in a 75gal tank?-and doing very well.
if they grow more than 10 inches, then maybe you will have to get rid of one,but 12 inches isnt that common.

Thank you for ur help not sure if i get RBP. i didnt think they get that big. I was looking to have large shoal of fish swiming around maybe go for some smaller fish instead.
