i love these fish. you have some great specimens. this is great to get them more into the hobby.

TooManyFishes, looks like your male is a happy camper now! Colored up real nice! My pair has their second batch in their pot right now... Got about 20 little growouts from their first spawn in a 30 gal tank trying to put a little size on them. I had to pull them out as they had started eating them wanting to get it on again! They are a sweet species of fish. Can't wait to get the adult pair to their max size... guessing that would be around 12" or so.
 
Yes RMac, he is very happy now. No eggs yet, I guess they were just getting to know each other last night. Although it is difficult to see inside the pot.
Show us some more pics of your pair and thier new fry in the grow out tank.
 
I bet your pair will have eggs within a week or two. Mine are still pretty small, and not that big of hump heads yet, but they will in time... They do have nice color tho. Here is a quick pic of the fry...hard to get them in focus since they are so small and not much to focus on. My male is super protective and bangs off the glass if I put my hand up to the tank... he is becoming a nut!

I think you are right - within the week. I noticed the females ovipositor is larger today and has extended further. Tonight may be the night! I am doing a 30% water change to give them some incentive. I'll keep you posted.
The focus on the fry pic is great and those fry are very nice. It will be fun watching them grow.
I do like the color on your pair, nice dark bars and red faces. I am hoping the bars darken on mine when they finally spawn. This male is definately getting more attitude since the feamle was added.
