Amphilophus Chancho

I seen this species on Jeff Rapps avalability list.
It says it grows into a giant..... Does anyone know how
big they get.... also are they as mean as dovi's or blue speakled monsters????

They grow to 16"+ they get to be BRUTES! If you go one youtube a guy has a 300 gallon tank I think with a female that is over 16" long and has the absolute biggest most massive head (not kok-wise) just in sheer bulk that I have ever seen.

very big, as stated in the 16" range. a bit short of umbriferium and dovii though, they are in the 22"+ range.

and just a little tip for scuba- when refering to any cichlid other than flowerhorns (hybrids) the term is "nauchal hump" not Kok.

Always there for your little tidbits XR aren't you lol jk.......I'm glad because I really find that word a bit uncomfortable still a little new to "kok's"....

They get big but they grow at half the rate of other Amphilophus species.

I have a female that is just over a year old and is only about 7". My other midas have been around 10" at that age. Beautiful fish, I would recommend them to anyone.

They are mean buggers though

I have a 125 gallon with a Chancho (male), Friedrichsthalii(male),Black Belt(male),Cuban Cichlid (male)and Black Shark all are 7 to 8 inches long. I feed them Hikari Bio-Gold+ pellets what else would be good for their colors, Black Belt is always washed out looking.I do a 50% water change once a week and also have 2 Aquaclear 500's, a Eshopps Wet-Dry 150 for filters on the tank. Any info would be GREAT!!!!!!

i have a 100 gallon with 2 chancho glass bangers about 5-6 inches. growing pretty fast if you ask me. they look amazing too
