My F1 male barred Midas (SF Libre, Lago Managua) has spawned with my F1 female creamsicle Midas. These parents came from Rapp's wild stock last year.

Can I still call these fry Midas? Or are they considered hybrids?

They are both Citrinellus, thus they are still midas. If you had spawned a midas with a Labiatus (red devil), they would be hybrids. Your fry will probably come out with some of them being barred, and some being creamsicle. Similar to if you spawn a barred convict with a pink.

I'd say they are still Midas, but I'd tell people where they came from. Because of the color variations. Because midas peel and can change so drastically that really you have no way of telling which will have wich coloring.

But that's just my thoughts, but still Midas!

I have a female one of those, and she spawned with a Citrinellum from Lake Arenal. I got fry living in my sump.

Lemme see some pics of your SF Libre? How much red does he have? Video of him maybe?

Here's video of mine when she had fry.

But, yes. Your fry are still Citrinellum, you just can't claim a catch location.

The interesting question is this ... will any turn red? how old will they have to be to turn red if they ever will?

Not sure what they will looking like. How did your fry turn out?

Call them captive bred citrinellus and state the catch location of both parents or raise them for your self and don't sell any. At the moment they are 100% citrinellus but we don't know what the future holds if one of the catch locations got described as a new species then they will be hybrids
