Yeah I think they max at 10 to 12 inches

Nice. Big but still a little more manageable to fit in a 18" wide tank. I'd still rather get something wider though.

I picked up some red isletas today. 1 big male and 10fry here's the male I picked up.

Ever consider Hogaboomorum? Aquamojo is gonna be selling some growouts at the convention and imo they're one of the nicer looking barred Amph's. Plus I've heard they're one of the more manageable of the Amph family. I'm personally getting about 6 from Mo and am absolutely stoked. Or if you wanna go a different way I'm selling some 4 inch Lyonsi IMO more or less a Trimac without the murderous intent. Lol! No matter what good luck man, and make sure to post plenty of pics when you get set-up. I'm sure you'll have quite an impressive collection goin on.

Only get a barred midas if you're okay with the possibility of it turning orange with age... most do ime. If you want a midas with bars there's a costa rican race that I think stays barred for the most part. You'll see them listed as 'San Juan Black' on some lists.
I've never kept them but I've heard a lot of people who have say that amarillo are the best looking barred amph and the ones I've seen in person confirm this for me. Also full of attitude!
