They think so, but I'm pretty sure they're both female. They lay eggs every chance they get but nothing. Funniest thing is that they swap roles each time. One will guard the eggs while the other defends the perimeter. Next attempted spawn, they switch. I think it depends on who lays the eggs.
Nonetheless, they are very showy fish with boisterous personalities. I remember, when I bought them, Jeff telling me about how his wild pair would splash water on him every time he fed them. The same is true with these two, every time. I'll leave the room and hear 'pop, splash', 'pop, splash' and know to bring a mop when I return.
If anyone has a large male, let me know!

wow that's pretty crazy. I wonder why none of your other males ever jumped in and fertilized the eggs?
How's their over all attitudes towards tank mates? Do they get along well with others or is there a lot of aggression in the tank?

Not much aggression w/ their current tankmates. All of the fish in this tank are pretty well matched for size and none of them have torn fins. They all have long trailers on their dorsal, anal and pelvic fins.

I dont know if your interested, but i have a 16" male rose queen you could try to match up. I dont know how much you like hybrids but he's an awsome fish.
