keeping fish helps me with my PTSS.....and beer.

I have PTSS for a different reason........I prefer not to talk about the most recent reason, but the first one causes me to go into severe panic attacks whenever I see a pool. This makes me resect Marines again after I had one threaten to kill me because his daughter's friend broke up with me......some people are messed up.

I know exaclty what that feels like!!!! I'm getting therapy for it too, it helps a lot. It's a tough to deal with. It's good to know there are a few others on here that are going through the same thing, even though I'm considered an odd case.

I'm not putting it down, I'm just saying I'm in a unique situation. Safety was pretty slack at my last job and I got a nasty acid burn to my face, chest, and arms. I'm now color deficiant and can't see green. Camo does trick me anymore and I can see better then average in the dark, but I'm near sighted and have asthma, so I can't be a sniper. I laugh at everything too, that's how I get through the day.

Also, being a tanker must have been an awesome job besides the tragedy that occured.

Well I have to say that reading that made me cry like a baby, and brought back a lot of pain that is still lingering. I am an all around military brat. From my great great grandfather down to my brothers and cousins. My family spans through the Army, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard and Navy, and through the years we have lost several loved ones, others have suffered emotional breakdowns requiring medications and therapy and in one case institutionalization, and another - suicide.
I grew up in this environment, was born into it with my father deployed, and was there when my sister gave birth while her husband was deployed. I know first hand the dedication, courage and iron will that goes into being a service member, and the strength, patience, faith and determination that is required to be a Wife/Girlfriend/Sister/Daughter of a service member. I thank you and the rest of you on here who have or are still currently serving, as it takes a true warrior to fill those shoes. I will pray for you and yours, that you remain protected and those who are still fighting are kept under God's wing so that they may return home to their loved ones.
For those who have never served, nor known the Military life, for those who take for granted all that you have here...

You sit there in your quiet home, no fear is in your heart,
You sleep soundly certain, that it won't be blown apart.
Your children they can go to school, and play out in the park,
You've never seen a bomb explode, heard air raids in the dark.
You've never seen dead bodies piled up on the street,
Your wife, she won't be beaten, treated like a piece of meat.
You are free to form opinions, read any news print you can see,
You enjoy your rights and privileges in this country wide and free.
The reason you can live like that is because I fight your wars,
I fight and push the enemy back, keep them off our shores.
I am here and you are there pretending you know best.
Well buddy, now listen close while I get this off my chest.
You have the right to criticize, you have the right to complain
You don't have the right to drag me down in a stupid political game.
The thing about your rights, the part you can't comprehend
Is you work in the very system, the democracy I defend.
We stand on post around the world protecting those that need it,
It is not for you to determine, whether or not it's worth it.
Ask the people in Afghanistan if they want us to stay,
Women and children depend on us - you say just walk away.
Women here can work you see, children are starting school.
We built a working government, we've broken Taliban rule.
Victory soon, will come to us and you will bite your tongue.
On that day just thank me for my courage and my trouble,
Find another place that needs help, and send me on the double.
