An experiment: Please define these "gun" terms

LOL, this thread rocks. And by the way, I was tired last night and trying to defend my point of view while doing a massive water change on my 150. It wasn't like I was completely focused on explaining why we have a 2nd amendment, I was more interested in explaining why I choose to exercise my personal rights under it.

I posted the thing on here; it grants the right to hunt game, defend ourselves, and provide a natural check towards government tyranny. Everyone who even remotely follows handgun legislation understand the idea behind the 2nd amendment.

Sometimes, I find it helpful and enlightening to entertain others points of view, even if my own views don't change as a result.

My wife and I have started a garden, and I now have over 12,000 rounds in 9mm, 8500+ in .38 +P, 2000+ in .357 magnum, and an backpack full of .30-06.

I'm not one for these thoughts, but for a climate change class we watched many documentaries on the inevitable end of oil. And pretty much all of them, although liberally based, show theoretical scenes of chaos within the next 50 years. Lookup "peak oil" for the doom. ;)

I have briefly read an NRA publication once...and when i put it down i felt like the redcoats were coming over the horizon and we needed to arm.

And when these hypothetical "redcoats" do come over the horizon, what are you going to do?

Climate change? LOL

Yeah, oil is definitely evil. I hate the stuff. I even protested when Pelosi flew her private oil pumping jet out to DC a month ago for a global warming conference, only to get snowed out.

I'm not evening getting started on global warming, but I do have to say it's amusing watching the "buzz word" change from global warming to climate change as we have the coldest winter on record.

I do vote you know that. However, the 2nd IS for protection from enemies foreign and domestic, end of story. Its hard to protect freedom with a single shot .22.

A semi-auto AK won't do much better against a tank. You can fill your house with guns until they are busting out the top of it, and you can sleep on top of the pile. You won't be any safer from any type of threat. This type of rationale is why I don't belong to the NRA anymore, and why when I see a gun thread I usually pass it. The biggest threat to the 2nd amendment is behavior like this. The "movement" is losing the casual gun owner/enthusiast.

The 2nd amendment was added so we can rebel against a tyranny government , like how the US got the independnce

It is there so we the people can protect ourselve from foreign threat and unjust government

Since when is exercising our right a "movement"?

And your argument that owning, practicing, and receiving firearm training (all things required in my state to obtain the permit I have) does not make that individual safer... I have no idea where that is coming from. How do you justify that?

And IMHO, the biggest threat to the 2nd amendment are people who seek legislation requiring a "reason" or an "excuse" for folks to exercise their constitutional rights. Just another form of government control, much like a cap and trade system pushed by "climate change" advocates.

No an AK wont do well against a tank, but thats not how guerilla warfare goes down. Usually its man on man with small arms.

Im not sure what "movement" you are talking about, but guns and gun rights in the country are only getting better. The US supreme court has FINALLY agreed that the 2nd is NOT for sporting/hunting purposes with the Heller case.
