I know what you mean and I appreciate it.

Lets get a few more replies in first.

Another idea, please post what you know and how you learned that information.

Which pic? The one under your username could be fully auto or not depending on the model/modifications.

As far as the 30-06 goes it would be much more difficult to kill lots of people that it would be with a full auto rifle. Really I don't see the point of semi-auto either. You can reload quick enough in almost all hunting situations. Really, you shouldn't need a second shot in almost all situations. It is true that you can kill quickly with any gun, that is what they are for after all, but for the any type of hunting you do not need semi/full auto rifle.

The only practical use for semi auto is to reduce recoil, which really isnt that bad in the first place. I have shot many guns and know that the recoil of a 30-06 isnt that bad. Shooting a 12 gauge shotgun is worse, IMO, and even that isnt bad. I can shoot 200 rounds easily and all I will get is a little bruse.

Anyway, I dont really want to argue this at all because its not something I feel very strongly about, but it is interesting.

As far as media buzz word go, I know most of that is a load of crap. My brother is a gun nut if there ever was one and I know that gun are not evil.

Donny, I appreciate your enthusiasim but I was hoping to get some replies from non gunners to see what kind of effect the media has had on t hem.

Not a gun owner yet but working on it. My take on the Assault weapons band is that it's an attempt to shut down a gray area between class 2 and class 3 weapons. Which is why the damn thing made no sense. If you can have fully automatic class 3 weapons , including belt fed tripod mounted .50 (though at $20K+ a piece) why the hell dose anyone care about a semi auto AK-47.

The gun show loop hole is for skipping the background check and waiting period. The waiting period I have mixed feelings. I support the background check.

Also if you get a collectors, museum or corporate license the rules get very fuzzy. I don't understand why the feds care about the weapons of law abiding citizens, criminals will just buy the stuff on the street, an area the ATF has failed to secure.

IMO an assault weapon is any thing that was built to kill/injure people. I dont see the point of automatic weapons at all. The only thing they are really good at doing is killing people, and seeing how that is wrong, let alone illegal I dont know why people fuss so much about the automatic weapons ban. As far as gun control goes, I own several guns, but all of them are intended for hunting. I am all for restricting handguns, automatic weapons and other guns intended for killing people. I do not believe however, that people shouldnt be allowed to own weapons. Idealy I think the government should restrict the sales of "assault rifles" and other dangerous things, through high taxes and tougher regulations. I dont want the adverage person running around with a gun that can kill hundreds of people in a few minutes, thats just not right. I know its not guns that kill peopls, its people who kill people, but there are way too many crazy people with guns. Anyway, thats just my opinion. I hope there will be tougher regulations in the future, but I do not want recreationial shooting and hunting to be abolished.
