I know for a fact that rosy barbs can survive 2 deg celsius, so I'm going to try an experiment, I know winter is a while away but I am going to keep a raphael or pictus, probably a pictus, in my bog filter to see how long he'll last. The water can get to maybe 0 celsius here so if it survives, I might try some bigger south american catfish like a tsn or cheaper big cats, a jack dempsey I had and thought died in some rocks and got eaten by the other fish survived some temps in the 40s and 50s for 30+ days

So are these going in the pond with the bass, and the 50 other types of fish you keep talking about putting in there? I think its pretty terrible that your going to purposely put a fish in a situation where it is most likely going to die. My question is why do you keep posting questions knowing you wont listen to the advice given if it doesn't match what you want to do?

I agree. You need to find another hobby if your going to keep killing fish as "experiments." Just like your salmon. They were doomed from the start, and everyone told you that.

But just like always, you refused to listen. :screwy:

I agree with joe M, killing fish is not a hobby, when you buy a fish you should take care of it and dont do experiments with animals

:banhim::banhim::banhim::banhim::banhim::banhim:thats just messed up man killing aquarium fish is horribly wrong. the fish i keep are almost like family and i care for them. killing aquairum fish for pleasure just isn't right

pleasure? it is a 2 dollar fish. I confused barbs and tetras, asian fish can survive way lower temps from what I understand, rephrase that, fish from that northern region. Compared to south american fish. I went fishing in brazil, people bang a peacock bass that is 6 pounds on the head to use as bait. Same with larhe piranhas. The salmon died of a disease it had when caught and of a pump failure, not natural heat or anything else. People need to calm down about a 2 dollar fish, and how would I get enjoyment out of watching a fish die when I don't even witness it die in a pond of cold temps over a long period of days? Think before you make accusations
