So I took some opinions and added a jd the same size as the jag. First it was fine now the keep lipping up and fighting, will this be continuous and to the death or just fighting over space tank is 5 ft long and like 22 in wide

i added jd 2 hours ago and it they have been doing almost continous, I moved some and added others, how long should i give them, can the do real harm to each other if the just lip
 
yes, they can sustain serious injuries from fighting. I would say its a poor combo.

you can try to divide them,making one is not too hard,then maybe if they see each other for a while they can possibly accept each other.is it 2 males? could be sizing each other up for mating...other things to try: adding dithers while you add the new fish.lights out in the tank,add more pots,caves,etc. to break up line of sight.
 
I just put JD in his own 55, with a emperor 400 and a cycled sponge filter, if i would have put anymore pots or deocor,the tank wouldnt have a bottem,
 
was an all day ordeal then had to rush set up a 55 then out to petsmart for extra air hose, if i get time will do tomorow, all i gotta say is it is very beautiful, gf is already attached thus setting up another tank
