Easy to breed, peaceful, responds brilliantly to good water and a great diet.

What to keep with your discus, your less confident cichlids and your L-numbers?

I really hope we don't lose this cichlid and all of its it genetic wonder.

Don't you agree ?

Agreed, Blue Acara are beautiful fish and make a wonderful addition to any new world cichlid aquarium. I have one with my Firemouths and he is one of my favorite fish.

The two I had (well one was my brothers) were nothing less than dick heads. I had one that killed 3 cory. Yes... stalked and killed them. WTF chases cory cats?

My brothers lived with a dempsey, firemouth, and 2 big sevs and held its own.

I have never owned the peaceful version unfortunately. Always liked that little fish.

I had a male that I absolutely adored. He tolerated a bristle nose pleco but there wasn't much else he'd let stay in his tank. He was gorgeous though and had great personality.

was my favorite fish . . . he died last year, and I haven't had one since. seems like they always lose out to GTs in popularity, but I prefer BAs because they don't get as large and are not as aggressive

this was mine

I just posted about my acara bullying my Dempsey. He literally stalks the Dempsey! I to wish I owned a peaceful acara.

This was my first fish, Even at 5" he tolerated a stack of tank mates Then we ordered a female for him to get jiggy with, We then bought two more because the new ones were all tiny compared to the big fella, I now have about about a hundred fry and maybe more wrigglers about to take flight, Can see a new grow out tank on the way. I havent seen much aggression accept the terrritorial stuff while breeding.. but hey ya gotta expect that. check my pics if ya like them. Fry for sale in 4 or 5 weeks(Melbourne,Australia only)

Nice fish!

Exactly, that's what I've found. They lose out to GTs.

I'm gonna keep an eye out for some good looking BA's and see if I can spawn them.

hey if someone in the us starts breeding them then heck ya ill put blue acara instead of gt on my stocklist, i had only seen one before this thread and loved it, it was being kept with sevs and angelfish and discus!!! along with tetras!!! i didnt know any cichlid could be kept with tetras(besides dwarfs)
