I got an anableps on wednsday night, I had him in a 38 g fw setup, on friday I realized he had to be brackish... I got marine salt saturday night and made my ten gallon brackish... but when I looked at the anableps it looked like his tail was a tiny bit discolored and the scales kind of looked a tiny bit raised.. today it looked darker, the anableps is still feeding on bloodworms and floating pellets this happened to my archer about a month ago, it got a whitish patch on it's back and it got progressively worse until his scales were all gone and it was just white skin... he died... he wasnt in brackish until the last week of his illness.. could they be because they werent in brackish? HELP!!!

Anableps are famous for coming down with white sores. This might be caused by their rough handling when caught. The salt will help, ideally you want to treat it with a broad spectrum antibiotic just to be safe.

Just made your 10 gallon brackish? Did you cycle it? was it already established? How quickly did you raise the salinity and what is salinity now? - water parameters?

Have you looked at the adult size of these fish & minimum tank size? They grow a foot long! Always research a fish before you buy it. Keeping a BW fish in FW does cause a compromised immune system & disease problems, especially with the skin.
