Hey all,
So I noticed what is either an achor worm or leech on my grass pickerel recently and thought I'd come here for some quick advice. I netted the fish and tried removing it to no avail (slippery fish plus an even slimier parasite) so then I attempted a different method: I grabbed some solar salt out of the bag and held it on the parasite for a few seconds. The pickerel had other ideas and flopped back into the tank so I just let that be the end of it for the night so as not to stress him further. If the salt thing didn't work, which I don't know as I didn't check before I left for work this morning, whats the best way to physically remove a parasite like that? Its in a 300 gallon tank and I honestly don't want to dump $100+ in meds just for that one problem haha since my QT tank is occupied at the moment.
Anyone ever physically remove something like that from a fish? Howd you get a good hold on the little bugger?
