I was wondering if anyone knows how to treat a tank that may have had anchor worm? The fish is not in the tank-just gravel. Is there anything i need to do besides cleaning and setting up before i add a fish to it?

There are no fish is this tank as we speak-but i was told they can lve for days without a host.

Can anyone help with this issue? Id just hate to add a fish and something still be in there. Any answers are welcome and apppreciated!!

If tank is kept empty without fish for more than 10 days then it should break the life cycle and will not survive.

Yeah everything will need to dry out for about 10 days or so for it to be completely clear. So yeah you'll have to take the filter and let it dry out as well otherwise ya risk having them bounce back.

Can air dry or soak in some potassium permanganate.

If you have anchor worm (Lernea) it can be obvious.
You can prevent it from spreading by raising salinity to over 3ppt (with 3 lbs of salt per 100 gallons)
This salinity kills juvie parasites, but does not kill the adults, and is easily tolerated by "most" cichlids".
I usually remove the adult parasites with a tweezers, when they show up on wild caught fish.
