That and the fact that Asian Arros are illegal here. If they made Asian Arros legal, you would see better quality here in the US.

Im not so sure about that one. Even the big timers in singapore and taiwan are beat by the japanese when it comes to AAA aros. Its kind of ironic but the aro farms in sing give priority to the japanese market rather than the locals.

 I dont even speak japanese

we arent as crazy as the japs to spend tt much on an aro...

besides the japs are regulars... even if the market opens further the priority is still w the japs.

exactly.Even the fish crazy asian market cannot compete with the japanese . Point is that the us hobbyists will not be willing to spend 10k upwards for a nice japanese spec specimen. There will be but they will not be as common and numerous as their japanese counterparts. just my 2 cents.

You mean the tricks they use to fool customers such as hormone treatments , blinding the arowana etc? ?

nope... its the fish itself.

Do you know tt all really red aros from indonesia don't hold their color long here in singapore?

Its because the water conditions in indon are unique... and only with that water can u get their full potential out. Hell.... even the japs arent able to recreate the same water conditions. US hobbyists might fork out thousands for a really red fish to only have it change to orange within days.

No, havent heard of that. Wonder what it is ( or lack of it ) that makes them fade ?
I have heard of a lot of sneaky ways unreputable sellers
trick the unwary aro buyer.

lucky bastards. thats some awesome lookin stuff. if i had ad's like that here in the states id probably have a lot more money invested. i would be willing to pay money for quality fish. bottom line is if you want an aro that looks like that you will need to show up with lots of cash
