I have a great idea........ why don't we just mind our own business, fix our own economy and let the rest of the world kill each other. Use our forces to defend our own borders. We've spent $527 Billion on Military expenditures. Imagine how that would help our economy?!?!
I do somtimes have the same sentiments, and believe me, I think occupying Iraq but not taking out Saddam Insane was a bad idea.
But, America tried to mind it's own business back in WWII, but still had to get involved, as sometimes, there's certain factors beyond what you want and desire, and you must get involved because if you don't, your very survival may be in jepoardy.
After WWII, America/United States was the only nation relatively unscathed, and def in a very powerful position, and if they still felt they should just mind their own business, and let the other nations be, then I think the world may def. have more wars and more atrocities.
The Marshall plan and reconstruciton of Japan worked, and worked very well.
Europe is a good example of what good America can accomplish along with Japan, more and more of Eastern Europe. Poland want to and have joined NATO, and w/out US, I doubt they would want to, and w/out US, there may not have been a NATO. South Korea, Taiwan, Kuwait, Thailand, and my wife's country Cambodia are all good examples of what good US involvement accomplished.
Real good example, which country is better, South Korea, or North Korea?
Granted, US policies and involvement aren't perfect by far, but still, if you look at world statistics, there's more people getting out of poverty, more people moving to middle class, and US has a lot to do with that.
Some say well, there's UN, but by and large, if US not involved, UN more or less a futile entity.
My humble opinion.
