And You Thought Windows Vista Sucked!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I couldnt stand Vista, even after weeks of trying to get used to it and not downgrade. But I had to do it, too much bugs even after updates. I'm giving Windows 7 beta a try this week on my laptop, see how that is.

I use Vista on my media PC simply because the Media Center on it is great - I have XP on computers I actually work on.

When Vista was first released it sucked due to all of it's security protocals, now that software has been designed around those it's not so bad.

People said the same thing about XP when it was first released back in the day. ;)

I got a Vista for Christmas and for me the only downside are the parental controls... it's locked up so tight I can't even read those links in the main post!

Linux Ubuntu ftw!
I bought a laptop with vista on it, nothing wrong it looked very similar to XP. I boot up my machine, everything is still fine. Try to connect to wireles...nothing, try to attach my printer...nothing. Try to install some games...nothing. In less then a day I switched to Ubuntu and have never looked back. I can't beleive an OS has to take up at LEAST 700mb of memory just to idle...absolutely ridiculous.

I won't even touch Vista much, unless it's someone else's computer, let alone Windows 7...

[/meaningless rant]

Linux mint looks pretty sweet, would like to try that one day. I think the most complete linux distro has to be Mandriva. It has absolutely everything you need. Plus the 2009 version has come out...really thinking of switching to it from Ubuntu. http://store.mandriva.com/product_info.php?products_id=398

Mandriva was a very close second when I decided to change operating systems... I even have it on disk. I haven't kept up with their newer releases, but they look pretty promising.

BTW, Ubuntu is pretty nice. I had it on my laptop, but had the hardest time trying to get wireless on it.

Mint works well for I what I use it for (video storage, internet, web browsing, music).
