Does anyone have any experience with this type of anemone Condylactis gigantea? Petco has them for 5.99 and was just wondering if anyone here has purchased one. I know they move around alot and that they can sting other corals and anemone and that they dont form a great relationship with clowns, atleast thats what i have read about them. I had to inform the Petco employees this and they were like we have clowns with them right now and they are fine.(the clowns were up in the corner of the tank hiding, Condy's were on the bottom and sides!) Also please recommend a good anemone for a 56g reef setup that doesnt get to large and that most clowns: Maroon, Tomato, Pelicula, will get along with. Thanks alot

anyone?

Never listen to anything petco says. I wouldnt buy anything from them either unless you QT. I happen to like the green carpet anemone's. They have a nice color and look to them.

Go with a nice purple tip, bubble tip, or carpet anenome's... i dont know too much about how aggressive they are in comparison to other corals, but i know that Clowns like them such as the percula, and clarkii(my fav). You need to know you need special lighting for an anenome too, you cant just throw on a fluorescent light fixture and expect it to live. (you prolly knew that) the most expensive part ive come to realize with setting up a SW tank is the lighting itself. you should either get a nice MetalHalide lighting system, or a nice T5 Very High Output system with individual reflectors to get maximum performance... hope i helped at all..GOOD LUCK!

very true about lighting. Burned a hole in my pockets. Metal halide may have heat issues though and chillers are expensive as well.

IF u set up a MH lighting system it would be best to hang it from the ceiling..

yea i have 260 watts for the tank so lightning isnt an issue.

Condylactis gigantea moves around the tank to much, mine committed suicide by going through the filter intake. I refuse to get any more. The ones I had ate Perculas and Ocellaris. I prefer carpets and saddles.

Personally, I wouldn't trust anything Petco sells...I had a friend who worked for them, and he constantly told me about water quality issues and diseases spreading through the systems...If you want the Condylactis gigantea (which I dont recommend I've had 2 commit suicide...one in a filter one in a powerhead) dont get it from a Petco. Go with a carpet anemone or a bubble tip.

bubble tips are very venomous and i wouldn'tputthem ion with anythingother than a marron or cinnamon. get some frogspawn coral the smaller (ocellarus, percula, sadddles, etc) go apesh*t for it and i think it looks cool. like carpet anemones that don'tmove around, another big factor.
