Angel Compatibility w/ small Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 2 angels in with my community fish. One angel is about 6" from tip to tip. The other is slightly smaller. They have all been fine until now. I also have a 3" blue gourami in with my tiger barbs and angels. The angels are now picking on the gourami pretty bad. I might have to move the gourami to my mother in laws tank. She has a 40 gallon community set up. I really like him, but the angels are becoming too aggressive to have them together anymore.

Mine do well with Rams...And they look great...also Buenos aries Tetra work as they grow 2.5 inches...

I was lucky enough to get a mated pair, I bought them from Walmart about a year ago because I felt sorry for them, I nursed them back to health and now they are breeding.

5 angels here with 2 being mated pair.:) No problems whatsoever although they occassionally chase my discus and rams.:) I have several tetra species mixed with them but so far, only my blue rams were the culprits for the deaths of the rummies.:(

I've got some tiger barbs with my angels... no problems yet.

sounds like a recipe for disaster. You may want to reseach a little before mixing fish. Tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers and once they get a little size on them, will destroy your angelfish.

You could probably get away with medium sized "smaller" fish like dwarf gouramis maybe even some blackskirt tetras..

you have to make sure not to put more than i male gourami together! or else only one will survive all else will be killed! IME

Blackskirts work for me some corys barbs!

cardnials and neons can be eaten!

I would stick to just angels in the tank. Chances are you won't get a pair, but if you do they can kill fish many times their size, and much more aggressive. You can do rams, but watch for cross-breeding. Discus are another choice, but I've heard some horror stories about mixing the two.

disease can be transferred!
