I have all my angels in hard tap water ph 7.6 have had them for over a year and lost only 1 ,I feed my a mixture of hbh 5 flake frenzy mixed with alot of spirilina.I use to lose angels all the time but found a good place to get them from .alot of wholesalers just crowds them up too much and by the time they reach the pet stores they are wat streesed.

How about posting a pic of your tank? You mentioned your nitrate is zero, that's not possible, even if you have a lot of plants in your tank.
But as asked, whats the temperature you keep it at and tank mates? Also what size tank and how many fish are in there?

Okay, i had a similar problem years ago. Over the course of 5 or 6 years, i probably purchased 40 or 50 angelfish over that time period, only to have them perish within a week or two. Finally, i found some locally bred ones, which were not only cheaper, but also survived and thrived. I beleive that many angelfish are imported from the far east and/or florida, and are just plain weak. Shop around, and try to find some locally bred ones. Getting more from the same source will only result in more failure. I had to try at least 5 different sources before findings ones that survived. Good luck
