i have a 10 gallon tank. i might get a 29 gallon if i need it. so could i have angels in a 10 gallon?how many? Should i plant the tank heavily?What kind of plants and do i need another light cause my incandescent? right now i got a aquaclear 30 is that enough filteration for a 10 gallon? Do they like gravel or substrate for plants on bottom? thx for help and any extra info u can give me i really appreciate it.

A ten gallon tank might work for a couple of angels, but I would much, much prefer a 20 tall.
If you go for a 10 gallon, I would not plant it too heavily - leave some open water.
You will most likely need something better for plants than an incandescent bulb unless you put the tank in the window and grow a little algae, too.
You will need plants that don't get too big, or grow slowly, or don't need to be rooted if you use a small tank. Java fern looks nice, doesn't require too much light, and grows slowly. Maybe try that.
Angels don't seem to give a hoot about substrate. But they do like plants and whatnot so they can hide when startled, etc.

Angels won't do to well in a 10 gal. for very long. They get to big and agressive. They will chase each other and stress out in a small space. Twenty gal. will do well for an adult pair. But if you want to keep more than two without chewed up fins, you've got to go to larger tanks for adults. They love lots of Amazon Sword plants easy to grow)
This is a very common question in LFS. Personally I don't recommend even a 29 for a single angel (p. scalare). A minimum of 18" is needed IMO for scalares. Some of the taller forms of p. scalare need to be in a tank at least 24" tall. For p. altum, no less than 30" IMO. Angels need height more than anything else. In a 55 I would only do 4 adult scalares, and the tank should be split. Angels when paired are VERY aggressive, and can easily kill many other fish. A 10 will not be able to support angels past 3 months of life, if that.
You could have two small Angels, then in a year or so upgrade,Remember in a smaller tank the issue is water quality, just be prepared for more 30% water changes...
I must fervently agree with WyldFya on this one. I have a group of six assorted scalare angels in a 75 gal. and there are plenty of territorial disputes, despite the space. They act like JD's in that the larger they grow, the meaner they get. Mine were fine when they were small, but once they were even half-grown, they became fairly aggressive. They were each about the size of a nickel when I got them. But within a year, three of them have grown to almost 5" in length (counting the tail).
