This fish is something that has been able to be ordered. They are strange in that they color similar to german ram but nicer and are shaped different. i will try to add a picture. I have two. Also when we finally get them in normal size to be ordered I will get a picture of a gold angel ram. If you have heard of these fish before let me know. I know they are coming for overseas... just wonder if anyone else has seen them.

You can get them at the reef and uncle bills. From what's been previously discussed here, they they are genetically defective like baloon mollys. I have a pic of them on another thread, if I find it I'll post it up:)

I have not seen them at uncle bills in Indiana. I go to all three every week. as for being a balloon I seriously doubt it. I have two and they are a lot different from other rams. we put them in the same tank as the rams at the reef. Where I work part time, and they look way different. They are not a simple body difference like mollies. They only other place that I have seen them in Muncie to almost bloomington in Indiana is at the reef and specks pet supply, but only the one in Avon... I know they are from overseas. i have done a lot of reading on line about what people have said. Most believe that it is balloon belly, but I have them... they are not so... they act different as well. They are something totally different.

I think they are just some type of short body.

I know they have had them and uncle bills because I was with JDman when he bought some from there. He also got a couple from the reef. Hell, I might have met you when I was there. I was the Bozo handing the MFK cards out lol......

here is one thread about them: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42450&highlight=short+ram

We thought they were some sort of hybrid at first, but people have been saying otherwise. I'd really like to know what they are, because they are very interesting fish.

I've also read that it's a genetic defect that is common in discus...but I forget where I saw that. The person that said that stated that they could be selectively bred, but I dont know how much validity that statement holds.

well, angels and rams are cichilds I doubt that it would happen enough to sell, but I bet that it is a new fish itself, or a hybrid of mixing rams or rams with something close. I know the angelram part if from old world thought. Which uncle bills was it... I am just curious to find price. The other place I have seen charges 5 more per fish...

I think it was the washington street store. JDman will be able to tell for sure. They were fairly close in price IIRC, but they were gold rams and not blue.

finally saw babies. They look so odd. They really change in shape when they mature. I watched them with some other true rams (various types) and their behavior is so different from that of other rams. They are so much more laid back, not that rams are overly aggressive. I watched for about an hour. It is strange they school together so much more than other rams. I am starting more and more to think they are their own sp. and not a hybrid or breeding difference. I keep my eyes on themand see what happens. I know mine school with my rainbows some days and others just hang out together...

Kind of hard to believe that a new sp. would just pop up out of no where. If they were hybrid their behaviour could change depending on what the other fish is, right?

well they come from overseas. You never know what they will find next. I mean they discover new sps all the time. If they are hybrids then I can see that, but flowerhorns are meaner than heck.
