I just took this picture of my female. Full of eggs with her breeding tube out.

And this is her mate. His color is amazing in person, he is so much brighter than the picture shows.

Tai95,

How did you determine the male and female? is there a clear distinction or is the breeding tub the only way you new?

I still havent found out how to determine sex with Angels, I have four Angels for about 3+ months now and still dont know. I'm also waiting for signs of pairing up but havent seen anything.

Nice Angels

I watched them lay eggs, that's a pretty good way of telling sex.
I have never been able to tell sexes without seeing the breeding tube. Some people say they can, but I can't. I've heard about males having bumps on their heads, longer fins, and a million other things. Once they are ready to breed the female will start plumping up and her tube will start coming out. They will also spend hours cleaning the spawn site. When you see this they will lay eggs in a day or two.

This pair is not the best parents though, they seem to love their own fry. I've tried to let nature take it's course, but after the eggs become wigglers they eat them. They have spawned like five times now with the same results every time. They get one more chance and then I'm gonna have to step in.

Your angels are still kinda young to pair off. I've heard of breeding as young as 6 months, but 10+ months is probably the average. If you have four your chances of getting a pair is pretty good. Keep the temp up, don't skimp on water changes, and feed them a good varied diet and you should see them pair up soon.

If you have anymore questions PM me.

Here is my male breeder from last year and one of him with his mate. It looks like he has a funny head, but it's just one of his black spots, came out weird in the pic. Both were sold on Aquabid (why oh why! My buyer got a steal of a deal!)
