I'm sorry to hear about your babies. I know you must be devastated.
I know from your posts that you have them in a grow out tank. How is that tank set up besides the sponge on the intake. What size tank is it & do you have substrate or bare tank.
Some pics would be helpful here if you can take some. As for the snails, I've never had or heard of them eating fish. But you don't even know what kind of snails they are. So if taking them out will ease your mind, do it.
I don't believe the fry died from your water changes. Unless the water you returned to the tank was a different temperature. Angel fish fry are extremely sensitive & probably died because they were just weak. Hopefully the few you have left are strong enough to survive the rest of the sensitive growth stage.
