Hi ,
I'm sorry to hear about your babies. I know you must be devastated.
I know from your posts that you have them in a grow out tank. How is that tank set up besides the sponge on the intake. What size tank is it & do you have substrate or bare tank.
Some pics would be helpful here if you can take some. As for the snails, I've never had or heard of them eating fish. But you don't even know what kind of snails they are. So if taking them out will ease your mind, do it.

I don't believe the fry died from your water changes. Unless the water you returned to the tank was a different temperature. Angel fish fry are extremely sensitive & probably died because they were just weak. Hopefully the few you have left are strong enough to survive the rest of the sensitive growth stage.

Good Luck
Jill ;)

Could be snails I've had pond snails eat some of my goldy fries before. Not saying that snails are fry killers just saying it's happened to me. But in your case I'm not sure as I'm not there to see it. I'd do a lot of monitoring to see what the cause is.

Ever tried aquarium salt? Lol snails are slugs and can't handle salt can't of dumb if you think about it now huh lol:D

So what was the solution to your snail problem?
and
How many of the 10 fry from your OP survived?
Pics would be nice too

there are now 50+ added since who are doing fine since the problem was solved and 50 in another tank. growing great they already starting to look like angels instead of that fry look ~~O. lol.

Well,
Congrats on the new spawn & Babies (yeeey :))
Just wanted to know your solution to the problem in your open OP because fry just don't disappear.
and I'd like to know what kind of snail infestation you had in your tanks.
Would you be kind enough to share with the rest of us.

-Jill ;)

The first batch were hacthed in that tank. apparently to what i can conclude to was the non free swimming fry were being eaten or smother by the equally sized or large snails. i still couldnt id the snails i just chalked it up to pond snails. like i said they are cone shaped . never saw one bigger than O that. i put a small water bottle with lettuce in it and removed alot of snails this plus i have been adding free swimming larger sized fry i didnt lose anymore. the parents spawn weekly so they keep me busy and poor cause i keep having to buy grow out tanks. rubber maid tubs with sponge filters have been amazing.
I hope this was a sincere request for information.

Well, I'm glad you were able to solve the issue.
I also know what you're going through with raising all those fry. (Good luck)...
I know it's not cheap, so hopefully you get a return for your efforts.

I know that I sometimes jump on ppl for giving advice I know to be wrong.
I shouldn't go out of my way to do that anymore, because in the end they will learn for themselves.
I'm sorry if I disagreed with your opinion/s & meant nothing personal by it.

Again- Congrats on your babies
Best Wishes
-Jill :)
