Angelfish are my new love hate fish. I love the look of them, but I hate how they are too soft to hang with other cichlids but too aggressive to hang with other Angelfish. Do you have a love hate fish? If so please tell me which fish and why?

***75 Gallon*** 1 Flowerhorn ***60 Gallon*** 2 Angelfish, 1 African Rope Fish, 1 Musk Turtle, 1 Knight Goby, 1 Rainbow Goby, 4 Glo Fish,1 Columbian Spotted Pleco and 4 Giant Danios ***

Hmm. My love hate fish would have to be my old Jack Dempsey. I loved the way it looked, and hated it because it was always hiding.

I like wild angels, most other angels not as much, but not really love/hate. Agree on keeping angels in groups can lessen aggression, they're a shoaling species in the wild, so keeping just two or three in a smallish tank may or may not work. You don't have to have dozens, number depends on group, but think of them in terms similar to discus, 5,6 or more. Otherwise it's just going to depend on the individual fish, gender, etc. Actually, wild angels I've had (Peru scalare) have been peaceful and quite tolerant of each other (and other fish).

Otherwise I either like a fish or don't, if I like them and they're a pain to keep with anything else I figure that's their nature so I don't hate them for it if I like them otherwise.
