angelfish tank set up/tank mate suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wonder how big the rummies were. Mine were 2" long with no casualties. Depends how big your scalare angels are. If these were altums, that's another story by a long shot. Adult scalares usually coexist very well with full grown rummies.

That is what I was thinking. Perhaps they were added when too small or the scalares were really big.

angelicus botia=- polka dot loaches
Puntius denisonii - roseline barbs
german blue rams
congo tetras
cory cats

2 red severums, 8 discus, 2 jupari,1 red tail shark, 5 black shirts, 2 albino paradise, 6 swordtails, 1clown pleco 1 high fin

I would take out the severums, jupari, red tail shark, black shirts, albino paradise gouramis, swordtails, and the high fin pleco.

not a good mix for discus or angelfish. I would do only discus with discus, angelfish with angelfish, angelfish can be with discus but watch for diseses

ya know theres more than one fish in the amazon and there is definetly more than one fish in my tank. my discus seem to take care of themselves just fine. they eat a wide variety of meaty and flake foods and arent allowing themselves to be pushed around by any of their tank mates. my water conditions are maintained weekly my filters are serviced every other week charcoal is changed every 6 weeks i use 6lbs (yes pounds i pay like $3.50 for a 3lb bag from a site ) between 2 fluval 405's and i clean out the sponge on my 24watt uv sterilizer weds, and sat. if you have had problems with diseases or aggression maybe you should re-examine your filtration set ups and maintenance schedule. is an emperor 400 big enough for that size tank with that many fish??? especially when you have a breeding pair? is 86 degrees warm enough? i have mine at 90. is every other day too often?
i dont know about any of that but what i do know is that i have a very diverse peaceful tank that looks great and is so clear the only way you'll even know there's water in it is if you lift the cover.

Are the fish still small? its hard to imagine so many full grown angels, discus, severums, red tail shark, ext in a 75 gal.

Eventually they will have to be upgraded to a bigger tank. Just think about it, 12 angels each 6inches, 72 inches total, plus 8 more discus each at 6inches makes it a grand total of 120 inches of fish just between discus and angelfish.
For each adult angelfish 10 gallons is recommended, for your 12 angels you'll need 120gallons, plus 5 gallons per discus, gives you just between these 2 spicies 160 gallons, minimum. Look into what you can do with the fish when they grow up.

again and for the last time my filtration and maintenance will more than acomodate my load. 200 gallons of filtration on 75gallons of water with a uv rated for 100gallons will work just fine for my tank yeah theres alot of fish and they are all adult (except for the redtail he's about 3 1/2 inches) now if i only had an emperor 400 or some other hob to save money on my tank then it would definetly be an issue, but i go the extra mile and i do all the work so good for me.

I also have a perfecto 150 wide with 5 oscars and an electric blue jack dempsey in it. that has a fluval fx5 (rated for 450gallons), an 18watt turbotwist(rated for 250 gallons)with a rio1100 powerhead, and a wisper 150 deepwater. Again i like to go the extra mile.

do you really think that an inch of fish fits in a gallon of water???
that means my electric blue jack dempsey can go in a 10 gallon tank and be fine by itself.

your filttration is not the problem is the size of your tank, each angelfish is going to need 10-15 gallons when it's an adult, and each discus is going to need 10 gallons each.
plus like I said those fish will not mix with angelfish or discus.....

On that subject, I have 6 angels in my 58g. I do not plan on actively breeding them. Is the size of the tank big enough to support these guys well?

dude just wait till they start pairing up.....then youll see why you need a bigger tank.
