I don't have altums, but they don't look more fragile to me, thay are only thinner.
and they are beuty too.

i've never kept altums but i've heard stories about them and i think it all depends on who you talk to about hardiness of the fish, but yes, they are quite a bit harder to find and you will also pay a pretty penny for them
