hello my name is Josh, by looking at my post you can tell i am new here but have been keeping fish for years. i have a few questions. would you be able to keep discus and angel fish together in the same tank. if so about how big of a tank do you think i need? anything i would need to do? sump or hob? what about fighting about them. anything i need to know about discus new to keeping them have had angels.

thanks Josh

:) angels and discus are perfect tankmates for each other. if you are new to discus, you should be told that discus are very sensitive to nasty water, and aren't easy to keep, escpecially for the new aquariust. discus also need to be kept in groups, just like a piranha or a tetra needs a school. just a heads up before you do anything stupid.

i know that about discus. i have had a fish tank or helped my mom with hers since i was about 5 or 6. i am not new to fish keeping i just want something more. i keeped angels alone for a long time and one die the they all went. i am guessing bad water.

i myself have kept discus and angels in same tank yes they look good together but beware my angel kept my discus from eating and would back them in the corner when they came out in the open and mind you i had them in a 150g tank so in my time keeping them together i would have to say there not a good mix if you want your discus to show their ture colors
thanx for listening

yeah i am looking in bigger tanks. what would the smallest sized tank a discus needs?

thanks for answering!

If it is going to be for show, I wouldn't go any smaller than 55 gallons....If it was for breeding, you could do just fine with a pair in a 29 gallon.
Of course, if they are large discus, the bigger the tank the better...Just remember to keep up with your daily water changes.

Dunno, never kept angels....But with Discus, the cleaner, the better. I do about 20% daily W/C. Every once in a while I will skip a day or two....But I do at least 4 water changes a week.

thanks man for angels the water changes should be weekly right?
Depends on your bioload. The more frequent the water changes, the better.
