i just added 2 3" giant gouramis in my tank and they have started attacking my angels. do you think this will stop or are giant gouramis a no no with angels. the angels are approx 4 inches i think. what can i do?
ive had regular gouramis only 3" in length go after a pretty aggressive 8" red tailed tinfoil barb , Id say there going to be a bit to much for the angles. But do keep in mind im not an expert but im sure some of these highly informed chaps can set me straight if im wrong. how big of a tank do you have?
I would never advised mixing gouramis and angelfish together. Both are long finned specimens with flashy fins so they easily can mark each other as rivals. There are a few exceptions though including pearl gouramis, honey gouramis and moonlight gouramis. None of these are as aggressive as the other commonly available species.
i recently had a 4inch red tail giant gourami in with my 6-7inch green aro. The rtgg would always charge at the aro so i got rid of the rtgg. You could try isolating it for a few days then re-introduce it to the tank.
at present they are in a 55 gallon but i am planning to shift them to a 180 gallon. do you guys think the increase in space will prevent them from fighting, or the only solution is separating the two
thanx
Hi there. I've had pearl gouarmis in with adult angels in a 120 gallon with no issues but I would not trust giant gouramis with them. IMO the giant gouramis are much more aggressive fish than the angels and will go after their fins even in a 180 gallon tank.... If you really like the combo look to the pearls they are peaceful and beautiful... HTH Sue
then i am just going to separate them and nothing else can be done. i will have to get a new tank maybe tomorrow. how many gallons will be sufficient for 4 angels??
