I just got my new Flowerhorn.

I will use this thread to keep updated pictures of him.

This guy came from Thailand, and looked in great shape right out of the bag.

Here is a picture after about 2 minutes in the tank:

What strain do you guys think he is?

Comments welcome!
This is usually referred to as a Kamfa

As many members know, the names used for Flowerhorns vary tremendously. If you get your fish in Penang, or Thailand, or Taipei or NYC Chinatown, it's likely to be called three different things. I've been suffering with this long enough. I'm a poor computer photographer, but I do have a Ph.D in fish and animal classification, so I propose to collect all the info pertinent to telling which Flowerhorn is which and compling as correct a list as possible. I will need everyone's cooperation. If you have a Flowerhorn you can publish the picture and indicate name unknown, or you can write a Definition and Diagnosis. The Definition should contain all the pertinent info on your fish, color, shape, pattern, kok, description of fins, and anything else that stands out. The Diagnosis should tell anyone who reads it how to tell it from similar but different Flowerhron strains. Then we can agree on a common name for that type, just like the American Kennel Club does with dogs. And everthing won't be gold monkeys and kamfas any more!
