Maybe that's why people back in the States think I'm too extreme. I've deployed too much!

That is a very serious concern. This is 1 reason I would fear joining any service while having a wife. Its just stupid to go that long without sex. Bad things can happen.

Actually that has happened. It was my first deployment about 6 years ago. I ended up having to leave at a very bad time in our marriage. I was more concerned about partying and hanging out at the neighbors' and drinking than listening to her and spending time with her. While I was gone someone showed her the attention she was begging for me to show her. It pretty much crushed me. I'm still not 100% over it but it did open my eyes. Our marriage is MUCH better now and she feels like crap for ever doing it. Plus now she's living at her cousin's house and has our kids with her. Between her family, the kids, work, and trying to start a business she doesn't have the time to do anything like that. I'm sure a few of you are thinking, "F*** that! I'd have left her ass." But that's easier said than done. Especially when you still love someone and you have a kid together. I couldn't see throwing away what we had because of a mistake on both of our parts. Also, females who grow up w/o a father figure almost always have some kind of issues. I wasn't about to have that happen to my little girl. Marriage is about working with each other through any obstacle. Hopefully that's the biggest one we'll ever have to endure.
