I agree with some of the other comments.
I think of BPs in the same ilk as balloon goldfish, FHs or Glofish and should not be kept with legitimate cichlids.
But perfect in tanks with other "Fischer Price" types
Well said,Duanes...couldn't agree more.

I'm really surprised the BP-ophiles haven't caught wind of this thread yet, and chiming in with guns a blazing. Last year there was a thread about the concensus of who "disliked" BP and there was like a flaming war from both sides lol

I find blood parrots to have great personality. I have never had 1 that couldn't be housed in a community.

It's not the fishes fault lol.

First thing you have to remember is you posted in the CA/SA section. If this was posted in the hybrid area you might get a completely different answer. The best advice you could get is keep which ever you like best. Green terror

I'm not a big fan of the BP's look either, but I'd say to keep them. Sounds like the GT is less agreeable, and if you do decide to add any fish later it would most likely end up beating or killing them too. Keeping the GT limits your options.

I ran into the same problem with a carpintis, as we was my favorite I kept removing what ever fish he was targeting until he was the only one in the tank. When he was alone in the tank he hid all the time so it was very frustrating. I got rid of some beautiful fish and had a huge glass box of water to look at while the carpintis hid in his cave. If you have the room I would get a 55 for the GT and leave the rest of the tank as is.

Well I decided to keep the BP's.

GT is a stunning fish, but at the end of the day my BP's are friendly, and tolerate basically every other fish, so its a no brainer for me.

Giving my GT to a friend, so at least I know it'll be well cared for and I can see it reach its potential.
