annoying leak

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd drain it and replace the bulkhead. You don't want a drip to turn into a stream.

Thats exactly what i did late last night, at the end of the day a drip is a drip, it needs sorting, and properly. Bulkhead looks fine, no cracks, gaskets look fine, no splits. One thing that's worth a mention though is the fact i have TWO rubber gaskets, not just one. Is this the norm with bulkheads? The way i fitted them the first time was to put one on the inside of the tank and one against the glass on the outside. Is this the correct way or should BOTH gaskets be on the inside of the tank and none on the outside? Maybe this error on my part is what caused the leak.

Only bulkheads I have ever seen have one O ring and it goes on the inside.
If the two where on the inside together they may have slipped off each other and caused the leak.

I've only used 1 gasket on my bulkhead fittings. Maybe they shipped you an extra one or shorted one in another package.

Well you live and learn. On both my tanks i was given 2 rubber gaskets with each bulkhead. My other tank which has been up and running for over a year now has both rubber gaskets on and it has never leaked!!!! When i fill my new tank back up tomorrow i'll try just the one rubber gasket and see how i go.

Yeah, thanks for asking. I spent a good few hours on it on new years day getting the connections absolutely right then i filled it up and watched it like a hawk, not even one drip. The picture shows it all up and running, looks nice.
