Another aro rescue....

The one eye has developed a growth on it. I have been doing 40% water changes daily and have added 1 tsp of salt per gallon. Should I try some Melafix or what else can I do about the growth on the eye?

To my knowledge the causes for cloudy eyes and protrusions from the eye are usually fungal and in rare instances flukes. Cloudy eyes in general though can be caused by cataracts, gram negative bacterial infections and protozoan infestations usually as secondary symptoms to an injury or disease.

I think your going in the right direction with the Mela(which is good for bacterial and injury) and the Pima(fungal) along with the salt and water changes should help clear the eyes up for you. Just be careful because over medication can also be stressful so make sure to watch for rapid gill and other signs of stress. Also make sure the ph isn't too acidic as this has also been known to aggravate eye injuries.

Okay thanks. I dosed with mela and Pima today. I was wondering do those mess dissipate in the water? I see that it doesn't require water changes between doses. Also would doing water changes between doses affect the effectiveness of the meds?

Also this is what its feces look like. Is this a sign of an internal problem or is it just indicative of its previous diet? It is really yellow and the guy said he only fed meal worms, but meal worms shouldn't cause its feces to turn bright yellow.

Under closer inspection, it appears to be small bubbles on top of more bubbles. The barbell also has small bubbles on it. Would this be a result of a severe bacterial infection?

A little over a month and finally the hunger strike broke today! I threw in a bunch of goldfish in hopes he would eat them, but no success, so I started tossing in a few hikari sticks every night for the last week and noticed him trying to eat them tonight. I dumped a handful in and he is slowly picking them off. This is a relief to say the least! I was worried he wasn't going to last much longer without food.

Bless people like you, seriously, pisses me off that a fish or any animal is neglected to the point of this. You can't disagree this fish feels SOME discomfort. Unreal... Hope it pulls through for you.
